“We have a fun-filled day planned. We have some exciting things happening this year and we couldn’t wait to tell you!
Please plan to arrive on Walk day at 10:00 a.m. to take in all the festivities!
- Face painters and balloon twisters will entertain the kids,
- Get pumped up with some zumba before the Walk,
- And, awesome raffle prizes will be presented at the Walk (bring cash)
After the Walk, plan on receiving a special treat at the finish line! Pizza and ice cream is here to stay along with many snacks, and water. Our national and local sponsors will also be at the Walk to answer any questions you have regarding their products and services for people with hearing loss.
Lastly, before you cross the starting line, at registration, pick up your ear plugs and participate in the #HearingLossChallenge! After the Walk, share your experience on social media how “losing” your hearing affected you and those around you. Long after the Walk, keep your ear plugs for ear protection. Ear plugs provided by Cochlear Americas.
Plan to continue your day at Lincoln Park Zoo (FREE!) as it is their hard of hearing and deaf day at the zoo. Afternoon programs will be scripted and have sign language interpreters. Schedule of accessible presentations:
1:00 p.m. – Up-close with Polar Bears
1:30 p.m. – Ape Cognition and Care (Operant Conditioning Training confirmed!)
2:00 p.m. – Seal Training and Feeding
2:30 p.m. – Free Flight Feeding
