“LIVING WITH HEARING LOSS”
DR. BRUCE DOUGLAS
PROFESSOR OF HEALTH AND AGING
UIC SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEA;LTH
“Dr. Bruce Douglas is a 100% hearing disabled veteran of the Korean War. Despite his hearing loss, he has had a very active professional career, which, at one time, included an oral surgery practice in our own Piper’s Alley. His career has included five “retirements,” following a stint as a State Representative in the Illinois General Assembly, representing Lincoln Park and Uptown. He is a volunteer consultant to the audiology department of the North Chicago VA Medical Center and he has run many adult hearing-loss support groups. He presently heads a research program at UIC on “THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF OLDER ADULTS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON HEARING LOSS”.
Phonak FM systems and CART captioning will be provided at the meeting.
We are a social bunch, so after the meeting, we’ll walk to a local establishment for food, more conversation, and good times! Come join us! We are always welcoming new people.
